In order to get the most out of your hot tub, it’s important to properly maintain all of its components. Did you know that even your hot tub headrests need cleaning?

Hot tub headrests and pillows are often neglected, causing them to become dirty and discoloured. Doesn’t sound very relaxing, does it?

Read on to find out how to clean your hot tub headrests.

Why should I clean my hot tub headrests?

The heat and chemical gases that build up in a hot tub can erode the headrests over time if they are not removed and cleaned regularly. Fortunately, cleaning your hot tub headrests is easy and won’t take up too much of your time.

How to remove hot tub headrests

You should remove your headrests each month to give them a good clean.

Removing your hot tub headrests is easy! Simply pop them off one at a time by unclipping the locating lugs found behind each headrest.

Once removed, simply rinse your headrests with warm, soapy water to wash off any chemical residue and debris. Then, leave them to dry until you’re ready to use your hot tub again.

How to reattach your headrests

Once you’ve given your headrests and pillows a good clean and they’re ready for use again, simply reattach them by locating the clips on the back of the headrest and lining them up to the clips on the hot tub. Then, using your thumb, push each clip to pop the tab and secure them.

Hot tub headrest maintenance tips

On top of regular cleaning, there are other things you can do to lengthen the life of your hot tub headrests.

If you’re not using your hot tub in the winter, or for a prolonged amount of time, we recommend taking the headrests off and storing them somewhere dry such as a garage or in your home. Leaving them fitted underneath the spa cover with the heat and chemicals all the time can cause them to deteriorate faster.
