Congratulations, you’ve just purchased a hot tub for your property!
This is an exciting time, and doubtless your mind is filled with all the fun times you’re going to have in your brand new jacuzzi – however, there’s still a few things that need to be taken care of before you can get started enjoying your hot tub.
Due to their size and weight, hot tub deliveries can be cumbersome, and it’s important to make sure you’re properly prepared. If this is your first time receiving a hot tub delivery and you’re not sure what to expect, don’t fret – we’ve put together this handy guide to help you properly prepare for a hot tub delivery.
Accessibility
When picking a spot for your hot tub, it’s worthwhile ensuring that its position leaves it accessible for future maintenance. Your hot tub should also be close to any necessary electrical and water hookups.
Prepare the Base
The surface your hot tub rests on must be strong enough to support the weight of the hot tub, water, and occupants. Concrete slabs, reinforced decks, and gravel cases are common choices. If you opt for decking, ensure that your decking has suitable support at regular intervals. Note that hot tubs cannot sit directly on uneven ground or grass as it can sink, which will cause damage to the shell.
Measure the Pathway
Before delivery, measure all pathways leading to the hot tubs final location. Ensure there are no obstacles like narrow gates, steps, or low-hanging branches that could hinder the delivery. Clear a path if necessary to accommodate the size of the hot tub.
Here at Premier Hot Tubs, on the day of delivery our team will bring your hot tub on our large 6m length 3.5ton flatbed vehicle; this is a special vehicle tailored to transport three hot tubs at a time fitted with a range of specialist equipment that is designed and built for moving hot tubs safely. The hot tub will be positioned using a special Spa kart or Spa sledge; most times we will use the Spa kart as this is the easiest method to carry our large hot tubs.
The dimensions (in mm) of the Spa kart are below:
Clear the delivery area
On the day of delivery, make sure the area around your home and the path to the installation site are clear of obstacles. Move vehicles, outdoor furniture, and other items that might obstruct the delivery teams access.
